In the Martial Arts World, it is difficult to find an excellent teacher. Someone who is knowledgeable, caring, and intuitive. Even harder to find are fighters! 'Hardest to find is a skilled fighter who is also a gifted teacher. Ricky Nowlin is one of those rare few. He is a Martial Artist's Martial Artist. Simply put, he embodies the "Essence of the Martial Arts": the expression of oneself with a clear focus on self-defense\combat.

A no-nonsense, simple, and individualized approach to fighting requires time, effort, and guidance but the rewards are well worth it. This developmental approach is what allows students to realize their full potential. This same approach has made Rick into a dangerous fighter; unpredictable, deceptive, quick, and intelligent. His ability is shared by only a handful of the best fighters on the east coast.

Derrick Nowlin has been studying the Martial Arts for over 25 years, and teaching for over 15 years. As an instructor, he has been hired to train police officers, bodyguards, bouncers, and other security professionals. He also lectures on self defense, and gives women's self defense seminars. With a background in various martial arts including Kickboxing, Kung fu, Kali, Silat, and Karate, Derrick has developed a reputation as a complete combat artist. In addition to teaching, Derrick has appeared in several feature films and television shows. He has performed live martial arts demonstrations at celebrity functions, community events, and on national television. He has also been published, quoted, and referenced in Men's Fitness Magazine.
He is currently preparing for a co-starring role in the upcoming independent feature, "Code Of The Street Warrior"( for Studio 31 in Atlanta), and the independent digital feature, "Temper Temper" (for P.0.1. Productions).
